KNOX COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION |
The Investigations Division of the Knox County Sheriff's Department is staffed by three full time Detectives, one of which is assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children(ICAC) Task Force. The three Detectives are directly supervised by the Detective Sergeant. The Investigations Division, like the Patrol Division, is overseen and managed by the Department's Lieutenant.
All Detectives receive specialized training in areas such as Interview & Interrogation, Finger Print Development, Crime Scene Investigation and Clandestine Methamphetamine Labs.
The average case load for each Investigator ranges anywhere from 20-40 cases at any given time. A few of the many crimes that the Investigation Division investigates are:
- Homicide
- Burglary
- Robbery
- Sex Crimes
- Felony Theft
- Financial Crime
- Child Abuse
- Narcotics & Methamphetamine Investigations
Detectives are also assigned cases involving:
- Missing Persons Investigations
- Locating & Apprehending Fugitives
- Cases Involving Equivocal Death & Suicide
- Background Checks on Prospective Employees
- Internal Investigations
The Investigations Division routinely works with and assists local area law enforcement agencies as well as Federal (FBI, DEA, BATF) and State (Illinois State Police, Illinois Department of Corrections, Attorney General's Office) Agencies.
The Investigations Divison's office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM. A Detective is on-call nights, weekends and all Holidays.
